The GDCh Conference on Inorganic Chemistry (September 7–9, 2026) in Jena has concluded, marking the first public demonstration of shapeXT. While this 2026 meeting will be remembered as “the conference with the scaffolding”, the atmosphere was fantastic.
A big thank you to everyone who navigated the construction pipes to stop by the booth, watch the live feature demonstrations, and talk through the daily issues of working with structural data.
The discussions with researchers across crystallography, solid-state chemistry, and theoretical chemistry were incredibly motivating. Walking through the features and hearing your direct reactions confirmed that there is a real need for a modern visualization tool that removes friction from everyday scientific workflows.
You also shared a wealth of insightful ideas and feature requests. While it isn’t feasible to pack all your suggestions into next month’s initial release, this feedback is invaluable and will directly shape the long-term roadmap for future updates. For October, the priority remains delivering a clean and responsive experience for the scientific community.
